Earlier this month, the FAA briefly closed the airspace over El Paso, claiming "special security reasons," before reopening it just hours later. The FAA stopped all flights to ensure the safety of civilian aircraft. This incident should be learned from to prevent this mistakes again. The federal government needs clearer coordination frameworks and pre-established protocols between defense, homeland security, and aviation authorities to prevent similar issues.
