Drones have room for a major upgrade through faster wireless connectivity, such as 5G. For instance, drone pilots traditionally have to stay close to their drones to ensure good connectivity. With an upgraded wireless connectivity system, drones can communicate and process information faster and more effectively over greater distances.

One significant upgrade is the capability to livestream videos. With increased speeds, the videos sent can now be smoother, facilitating the pilots to view the footage more clearly. For example, this is helpful in search-and-rescue operations and in filming sports.

Better 5G connections help control drones from afar. The drones can be controlled and respond faster, and their electronics can be programmed to send more data back to computers that analyze flight routes and other factors. This can be done more easily and enhance safety. It can pave the way for other complex operations.

Overall, 5G and enhanced networks are enabling drones to evolve from simple flying cameras into smart, connected devices that can fly faster, farther, and better than ever before.
